When I started writing for Urbanmoms I knew that I had lucked out. Big time.
With all the great writers I found a bunch of new friends in my fellow bloggers – especially once most of us were given the opportunity to meet at UrbanBlogFest at Blue Mountain.
Prior to that weekend I had already made a connection with DIY’s Sara. I think because our life is directly affected by autism on an immediate level on and on a daily basis.
Sara and I were roomies at the BlogFest and became fast friends.
The week following BlogFest, I had the pleasure of meeting Sara’s little dude Will at Walk now For Autism in Toronto.
We decided after several long emails and rushed phone calls – she’s busy at work during the day and we’re both busy with kids at night – that we needed to get together. And we decided on this weekend.
Sara and Will made the drive from the big city to the suburbs to hang out with us and have dinner.
We had a great visit with good conversation. The kids had a blast. Will and Eva got along famously.
Once Cam arrived home from hockey – Will was obsessed with him. Cam brought out the mini sticks and showed him all things hockey.
(check out Cuy. drink in one hand, converter in the other. so much like his Dad…)
And after several hours of running amok and chasing each other – we threw Eva and Will in the tub together with the hopes of calming them down for bedtime. A lot of splashing ensued. And more fun was had.
Look at these two. Nothing but mischief.
So thank you UrbanMoms.ca, for my new friends Sara and Will. They are good people and I hope to spend more time with them soon.
…Now if only I could meet Ali…hopefully I can write about that meeting soon.
It’s been 8 years in the making.
