What a wonderfully busy weekend!
Friday started it off with a playdate with a great group of families that are connected through our local Autism Ontario chapter. We met up at our local gymnastics club after dinner and let the kids bounce, swing, run and jump while we got to know some new friends better.
Saturday morning had us up early and out the door by 9:20am on our way to the movies. Autism Ontario hosts “Sensory Sensitive Movies” throughout the region at various theatres. The sound is lowered, the lights are dimmed and kids are able to “stim at their whim” as I call it. They can bounce, run, make vocals stims as their bodies need to without judgement.
Also – if you’re a member of AO, the admission is $2.00 per person. Yes. TWO dollars.
That means we spent 10 dollars on movie tickets and another 10 on food for the kids (we got coupons for that too). Our family of FIVE went to the movies for a total of 20 bucks. Not bad.
We spent $100.00 2 weeks ago when we took all of them to see Justin Bieber: Never Say Never (LOVED it!).
While I loved that this is something we can do as a family, the movie kinda sucked. I really wanted to like it. I think Johnny Depp is all sorts of sexy, but the movie didn’t do it for me. It was all western-y with dry, scaly, penis-nosed desert rodents. Plus it was a little violent for my 4yr old. Hence the PG rating.
Anyways. Onto the topic that has been buzzing on my facebook for a week now.
Owen the cat
HE HAS ARRIVED. I really had no idea what Cuyler had in mind for the arrival. Owen was, after all, in his tummy. I decided that I would just have a toy cat somehow end up in the house and hope that it would satisfy him. I was not prepared to have a live cat join our family.
So. When we got home from the movies – there he was. Comfortably lying in his cozy pet bed, in front of our fireplace waiting to meet the boy who couldn’t wait to meet him. The whole ride home he kept saying “I’m getting my cat today. Owen is coming out!”
I messed up the video tape for the initial meeting, but did get some good pics and I’m pretty sure he was all Cuyler had hoped and imagined that he would be.

I’m grateful that this FurReal Friend is real enough for him to satisfy whatever notions he had about getting a cat. When he told me that the cat was going to be orange and white I was looking for anything that might fit the bill. I walked past this fella at the Superstore and grabbed it. He was all alone on the shelf and knew he’d be purrrfect (wow – did I just type that?) for my boy.
Just as Cuyler said – it was a great day!

Cuyler informed me when he was going to bed that when he’s in grade 3, he is getting another cat named Emmerson. *sigh*

Hmmm. I don’t thing were getting the whole story here! Any particular reason Eva looks so glum in the “nap” picture????

I’m glad to see that Owen arrived safely. I’m especially happy that Cuy had a good day and that he is satisfied with Owen. Maybe he’ll forget about Emmerson by the time he’s in grade 3? Is there any hope?
Bonus, no litter to change.

ok , I have to say, you have the CUTEST cat I’ve ever seen hahaha 🙂 just amazing cuteness. It looks like a real cat, where did you pick it up? as I want my kid to play with a toy for a bit before getting the real thing.
