I did this craft with my kids yesterday. I like to incorporate some of their holiday crafty stuff onto the Christmas dinner table. This is the perfect centerpiece!
You can use toilet paper rolls or you can tear a paper towel roll in half – I like the ripped look. The poinsettias and the little berries came from WalMart for 99 cents a bunch. The pine cones also came from Walmart for $5 for a big bag of 12. You can do anything you want with these, really. You can even use ornaments or garland to go around the “candle”
The first thing the they did was paint the tube. We used green but it really doesn’t matter what colour.
Once the paint was dry they took their holiday dessert paper plate and covered it with a layer of white glue (for everything to stick to).
And they added the flowers, berries and pincones how they wanted to. The last thing we add is the tissue paper flame to the paper towel candle.
VOILA!
Holiday centerpieces ready to make any Christmas dinner table beautiful!
Plus the kids get a kick out of seeing their handiwork displayed for everyone!

I was going to say what Nancy said – painting at the dining room table is special indeed! Especially when in my house, kids strip down naked before they get painting stuff. I’m just sayin’.
Adorable crafting, Ma’am! What a fun mum you are!!

my grandmother was Eva- a strong woman and one of Canada’s first female doctors! My youngest has that middle name ! I love it – good choice!!! Our harvest table has scratches and paint and I love that!

Nancy, the table is a gorgeous solid cherry that belonged to Sean’s grandmother – who Eva is named after.
I think she would love that her great-grandchildren do everything at her table. Homework, artwork, eat meals…
I love the history attached to it and that we are making our own with it!
