Weekend Update – Best of Christmas 2010

December 26, 2010 by Christine

Best Christmas ever.  That’s all I can say about this years festivities.  My sister is here from BC with her hubby and daughter, who is 6 days older than Eva.  They’ve never been here for Christmas with their little girl so it was special this year.

Each year we spend Christmas Eve at my in laws for turkey and presents – all for my German mother in law – she is in her element in all the chaos!
Then we come home in time to tuck the kids into bed before Santa arrives.  We spend Christmas day at home doing nothing but drinking coffee (from my new Keurig!) in our pj’s, eating most of what we shouldn’t and hosting whoever wants to come for dinner – which is always a roast tenderloin on Christmas day.

Here’s my quick summary:
Best Reaction (no – not Sean’s to the Easy Bake Oven)

Watching Cuyler meet his beloved Lotso on Christmas eve was priceless.  It was like he was reunited with a long lost best friend.  The entire night he had Lotso tightly in his arms exclaiming “I’m a hugger!”
Best Kid Gift

We spent the afternoon of Christmas day outside on this thing.  It was Cam’s present but all 3 kids were able to ride it and it was great family time for all of us.  I loved being outside in the fresh winter air with my family (wearing my new winter jacket, thanks honey!).  Afterwards, Cam and Sean skated on the pond in this ravine just behind our street.

Best Moment of Nostalgia
My sister bought Eva a music box.  Almost exactly like the one I had as a little girl,  It even played the same music.  I caught Eva quietly listening to it and watching the ballerina spin.  Made me feel all warm and fuzzy.

My favourite moment came when Sean pointed my attention over to the kids who we found doing this:

It is on a very rare occasion that we find all 3 doing the same thing without trying to maim each other.  I was SO proud of Cam for being a leader while playing the game and guiding his younger siblings through it.  Definitely one of those moments as a parent that make the crappy stuff all worth it.
So while I am sad that my most favourite time of year is already winding down, I am thrilled that kids and Sean & I had a most wonderful Christmas.
I hope you did too!!

I’m so happy that it was so awesome Christine. I swear I’m in love with Cuy – every video of him kills me – and I LOOOVED this one. And I love that toy of Cam’s so awesome! You deserved a great holiday – I’m glad that you had it!
