I had a wonderful start to March break this year. I went to Toronto to a special meeting of Multiple Births Canada. It is so important to find support networks in our lives. At the meeting I was reunited with people whom I hadn’t seen since our Blue Mountain conference in the fall of 2009. I was also reunited with a twin mom I met through UrbanMoms, Ruth, the president of the Guelph-Wellington chapter and Mircrosoft guru here. I got to meet new people, moms and dads from other chapters. I can’t even express what it is like to be able to share stories and experiences and have people who understand. I reconnected with members of my own chapter, Temiskaming Multiple Births. We get so busy in our day to day lives, and the distances between us are vast, so we don’t get together as often as I would like.
We All Need Somebody to Lean On
I’m sorry I missed the Edmonton conference, it was held at the West Edmonton Mall and sounds like an informative and fun weekend. Only 211 days until the next one in Windsor, can’t wait!
On Sunday night I reconnected with old friends (not old as in geriatric, as in we’ve known each other a long time). It was so comfortable to be with people who have known me for a long time. People I trust and feel safe talking to. I was able to talk with, and get support from them. Support I am greatly in need of right now.
On Monday, I took the train (read 4 hours of reading wahoo! – finished Catching Fire, #2 in the Hunger Games trilogy) to my mom’s and now I’m hanging here with my family. I’m very lucky to have a supportive family too. I’m including my extended family here. I have so many wonderful, loving, supportive cousins too. I saw two of them this weekend also, Jen & Christine. Love you gals. Talk about luck!
As wonderful as online support is, it’s not the same as real life connections. Good friends and supportive organizations like Multiple Births Canada and other support groups make all the difference in the world.

It was great to see you again, too, and I’m glad you were able to connect up with so many people while you were in town. It’s true – having people to lean on is so important. That’s why I got involved with the Guelph chapter of MBC in the first place. Nothin’ like giving birth to a couple of helpless little babies to show you how much you need to lean on others sometimes.
I’ve already got Windsor booked off in the calendar and am looking forward to it. I’ll see you there, if not before!

great to read you reconnected with some of your support people. Change is so good as well don’t you find? I need my family and a few close friends. I cannot imagine how I would do without them.
You sound good erin!

I’m leaning…physically AND emotionally on my sister right now….but I have lots of peeps as well for that – and it’s so amazing to know you have a ton of people in your corner – makes life so much easier!
