Many of us here at UrbanMoms are Macophiles. We like our tech toys, and we like them apple-flavoured, thank you very much. We proudly sport our iPhones, iPods, MacBooks and iMacs, and I know for a fact that at least one of us is seriously eyeing up the iPad, too. (Okay, it’s me…I tried it out for the first time today and, well, what can I say? It’s LOVE.)
So we frequently get news releases from companies promoting Mac-friendly tech toys. I’ve reviewed a few iPhone apps and accessories, but I’ll be honest: some of the stuff I get just doesn’t yank my chain, and if it doesn’t grab me, I don’t promote it.
But today, something came across my desk that I thought just might be worthwhile. It’s a vuvuzela filter. Yes, vuvuzela. You know, those loud, obnoxious horns that everyone keeps blowing non-stop during every FIFA World Cup game in South Africa. Yeah, those things: the reason I’ve stopped watching games altogether.
But here’s the thing: how much better would it be if you could filter out the stadium noise, and enjoy the beautiful game without the distraction of the horns? Yeah, now you’re talking. So, Elgato EyeTV (producers of award-winning TV software together with a complete range of TV tuners and capture devices to watch, record, and edit TV and HDTV on Macs and PCs) has released a Special Edition of EyeTV 3.4 that filters out the vuvuzela background noise. Sweet, right?
You can check out the EyeTV website for more information (you’ll need an EyeTV tuner to get the filter). It just may make watching the World Cup tolerable!

i don’t get the hate! i don’t find it that bad. i can’t tell since i’m not there in person but the buzz from the tv from nascar or indy races is worse to me….too high pitched and whiny (kind of like me sometimes!)
but i will agree i do wish the vuvuzelas would stop cuz i do like hearing the singing and cheering that goes on.

RAISES HAND.
I want an ipad too.
and those stupid things to stop. Also, even just THE WORD bugs.

Btw, you are absolutely not the only UrbanMom eying the iPad. I SO want it.
I’m with you. I can’t stand the constant background noise of those things. This is definitely a good idea!

No!!!!! The crowds are what makes the Cup spectacular!! How can you stop watching when they are so energized and excited to be there. Brazilians have their whistles, and South Africa has the vuvuzela. It’s all good. Although, I do miss the chanting the crowds normally do…..can’t hear that so well.
