Urban Kid Closet – November 16th, 2011

November 16, 2011 by Tracey

So, I’ve had to do a bit of shopping in a hurry for these kids, since they’ve suddenly grown like bad weeds, and nothing fit. Enter Old Navy.
I find their stuff can be hit or miss from season to season. (I’m not finding a whole lot for my son there at the moment.) But there’s LOTS of cute stuff for girls these days!
I loved the peacock t-shirt with charcoal image, laced with soft pinks and purple, and dotted with gold painted sequins – and that bit of plum-coloured tulle on the bird’s head? Adorable.
Sadly, there were no big sales to be had that day (and you know how much I hate that) but a clothes crisis is a clothes crisis. I had to buy some stuff. And it cost more than I might normally spend on a child’s top, but in this case it is totally worth it in my books. Plus, I’m pairing it with a grey tutu she’s been rocking for probably two years – it’s sized 12 -18 months – and it’s perfect over grey tights, jaunty argyle leg-warmers and black boots. Right?
Ava Scarlett wears:
peacock motif long sleeved t-shirt in cream – Old Navy, $19.94 (ack)
grey tutu – Old Navy, around $10 (ancient)
grey tights – Joe Fresh, $5
argyle leg-warmers – mummy’s cast-off knee highs with feet cut out (clever!)
black boots – Winners, around $22

Victoria’s REAL secret:I’ll get u dummies to buy my products knowing that men don’t care about the wrapping as long as the present is good.

Oh Alice, Im just riding out my time of still being allowed to dress her – so far, she (almost) never balks at anything I lay out for her, but I know my days are probably numbered. I wouldnt send her to school in this outfit – we took the metro and went shopping after these pics… a relatively “clean” activity. Hee!!

She LOVES it – skirts make her happy. And indeed, if you have an idea about how to stop them from growing so much, please pass it along! (Hi Rola!!)

Love it – sadly, my girl is so not girly, she’d never wear a tutu, and a white shirt would be horribly greyed out in no time. She is who she is, and she’s awesome, but she’ll never look as smashingly put together as miss Ava Scarlett!

Absolutely fabulous! Does Miss Ava not like it? Very clever argyle leg-warmers! Now, if only we had a clever solution for them growing like weeds!
