I’m not going to lie. When I heard I was going to be interviewing this guy
who plays Connor Heath on Family Channel’s show – about double agents and president’s daughters and triple crosses – Connor Undercover, I was expecting him to be Bieber-esque. I mean, this, obviously, in the best way possible. I expected a high-voiced, bubble-gum poppy teen. What I got, however, was someone who came across so much older, so much more mature, so much more interesting. And the voice! His deep voice made me wonder if I might be being punk’d.
But alas, it was Max Morrow.
So, when I asked him to describe Connor Undercover in two minutes or less, he told me that it’s a show that revolves around a James Bond wannabe who suddenly has to step up to the plate and assume a real-life James Bond role when a foreign resident’s daughter Gisella shows up and Connor has to assume the role of protector. “There’s lots of spy stuff,” he says.
“What’s the coolest thing you’ve gotten to do as Connor Heath?” I say, immediately wondering if using the word ‘cool’ makes me sound old.
“I’d have to say that getting to run away from a car that blew up…Oh, and also, you know, the helicopter.”
When I ask him how alike he and Connor are, he hesitates for minute and then tells me that they are both passionate about what they believe in and what’s important to me. BUT, that being said, other than intense passion, the two are NOTHING alike. Max says that Connor is WIRED, even though Max is not. BUT, he did admit that while he is filming, he lives as Connor. He says, “when you spend 14 hours a day as someone, you wake up as him and you go to sleep as him.”
Max admitted that he did, in fact, do the voice of Charles the Mouse on Timothy Goes to School, a show I am all too familiar with. He said that when you are 8, and you get to play an animal…”that’s pretty wicked. ” (Note to self…say wicked instead of cool.)
When I asked if there were any actors he would love to work with, immediately two actors came to mind – Donald Sutherland and Daniel Day Lewis.
Obviously, Max Morrow is man-boy of good taste. And he thinks you will like Connor Undercover. And I think you will too.
Because it’s pretty wicked.
You can watch Connor Undercover on Family Channel.
