Tinted Moisturizer for People Who Hate Tinted Moisturizer

January 27, 2011 by Metalia

I despise tinted moisturizer. I love it in THEORY, and have actually been on the hunt for a good one…well, for years now. It’s just that I’ve never found one that I like, and — no matter the price, brand, or formula — I always find that I either have an orangey tinge, or look like I’m wearing a chalky deathmask. Pretty!

I recently found one that — I think — finally works. Neutrogena’s Ageless Intensives Tone Correcting Tinted Moisture (with SPF 30). I had actually tried (and loved) this moisturizer sans tint a few months back and thought it was fantastic. When I went back to the store for a new bottle, I spotted the tinted version, and decided to give it a whirl. I had, frankly, low expectations, given my past experiences with tinted moisturizer, but since I knew the lotion itself was already great, I was optimistic about the tinted version. Well. This stuff is fantastic. It promises “instant radiance,” and damned if it doesn’t deliver.

I’m pretty pale, and the winter makes my skin kind of dull, but this brightened my face right up. It looks quite dark on its own, but somehow manages to blend in sheerly, while still imparting a NORMAL, SUBTLE face-wakening glow. I look ALIVE, but not like I’ve been hanging out with the Jersey Shore crew. As we’re on our sixteenth snowstorm of the season, or something, with no end (or sunlight) in sight, a little natural-looking glow was never more welcome.

It smells great; nice, yet unobtrusive! 🙂

I live in NYC and can’t find this anywhere! I’ve seen the Ageless Intensive line but never the tinted moisturizer – where do I find it?

Does it smell okay? I recently had a terrible experience with an Aveeno tinted moisturizer. (And I loooooooooove the Aveeno Positively Radiant moisturizer without the tint.) But the tinted one smelled like cat food. It was awful and I have been loathe to try a different kind for fear of the same awful smell problem.
