Whoa…it’s been a long time since we’ve visited this Thursday staple!
Will had a ‘date’ last night with his friend Gabi. It was much like the dates he’ll experience later in life…he tried to get her attention and she ignored him most of the night – KIDDING!
Anyway – the second we got to Gabi’s, Will was off like a shot to pillage through her books. He is a total book worm my boy. He pulled out Peter Pan and wouldn’t let it go. He politely asked if we could borrow it. He was so excited to read it when we got home that he asked to skip the bath and get right in bed.
So we read it. And I was taken back. Remember those books that Disney used to put out where you read along and played the record and then you’d turn the page when Tinkerbelle tinkled?? I had Peter Pan and I was obsessed with it.
Remember this song??? I was rushed with memories. And Will loved the story. So much so that we’re going to the library tonight to get the movie to take to his sleepover tomorrow.
But, I’m not going to lie. I started to cry last night when we were reading it. Because Peter Pan will now forever remind me of Finding Neverland. It will always remind me of my mom.
‘She’s on every page of your imagination’. That movie hit me in the gut. It still does.
She should be here reading this book to Will.
BUT at least I was lucky enough to have her read it to me when I was little.
Peter Pan is still magic.

Loved reading this Sara. So wonderful that Will is such a reader. It makes
a huge difference in how one eventually lives life. For the record, I loved
Peter Pan too. Isn’t it why we have children? To find Neverland? With
my children grown, Neverland seems so far away…hoping I find it again
with my grandchildren!!

Thanks Aileen. It’s funny – I never used to think that I looked like her but as I get older…I certainly notice it more and more. We (and my granny too) have the exact same eyes..i’ve always known that.

Lovely post. Think of all the wonderful memories Will will have when he’s grown, and hopefully, pass down to his own children. And he does have a little of his grandma, every time you talk about her with such love.
Do you think of your mom every time you look in the mirror? I am blown away by how much that picture you posted of her looks like you.
