So, when I finally woke up this morning at EIGHT A.M. this is what I woke up to:
I had exactly 20 minutes to get my kids up, dressed, and fed, have a shower and get out the door. I needed to take my son to a doctor’s appointment about 10 minutes away. Needless to say we were late. What put us over the edge was scraping the ice and snow off the car (this pic is post scraping).
On top of this I had no gloves for my son (he wore mine) and no boots for my daughter (she wore her brother’s old ones that were – no word of a lie – THREE sizes too big. Luckily she thought it was so cool to wear Big Kid boots…phew).
Strangely, though, I could not wipe the smile off my face all day. It was cold, yes. The roads were slippery, yes. I was late, yes. But it was the first snowfall of the year! The kids were thrilled and I was starting to think it was beginning to look a lot like Christmas. So, I bought this:
I’m a total sucker for classic Christmas tunes. I love the holidays…maybe a little too much. But I almost made it to my new resolution date of December 1st. I challenged myself that there would be no decorations or Christmas music until then. I was just over a week from making it 😉 Oh, well. Let the season begin! Btw, the CD is pretty good but nothing like my fave:
I haven’t broken it out yet. I don’t want to get bored of it by the time Christmas rolls around.
This Christmas is going to be a great one. For me it is about family and that warm fuzzy feeling you get from being together. Corny? Yup…and I love every minute of it.

Excellent idea to beat the post-presents blahs!

I’m just cracking up because I think it was THAT sort of day – we got up FIFTEEN MINUTES before the kids had to leave for school. It was CRAZY! The Baby NEVER sleeps in ANY other time. EVER.

Hee. I sent my kids to school in rain boots because their winter boots didn’t fit. My son was sporting light blue Lizzie McGuire boots. Luckily he didn’t care.
We always wait until December 1st to pull out the Christmas stuff. One of my favourite Christmas cd’s is “The Edge of Christmas” – not so traditional, but fun.

i hear you jen! I could have used some of your christmas cheer as i tried everyting to de-ice my car so my kids could go to school. Brilliant idea – i sprayed the car down with water to melt the ice – made it to school but came home a to a nightmare ice slick in my driveway from all the water that FROZE! Despite all that, i love the prettiness of it all, and can’t wait to celebrate its arrival with a a big gingerbread latte!

Hee hee, you were already late and yet you still took a picture! That makes me laugh 🙂 Do you have Harry’s other Christmas album (Harry for the Holidays)? It’s my all time favorite Christmas album, because it’s hard to find Christmas music that’s actually Christmas-y sounding without being cheesy.

I like it, too! And, I’m Jewish! Without Christmas and all the pretty lights and cheery music, Winter would be so blahhhhhh. 🙂 they play Christmas music at Starbucks…MEET YOU THERE! 😉

I love Christmas music, too. One of my faves is Sarah McLachlan’s Wintersong. But I have an old compilation of Bing Crosby songs that is a great sing-along CD (and I ALWAYS have to sing along!) Merry, Merry!
