Pounds Lost: 34
My Week
SUNDAY: Vow to eat well all week (oh, so many fruits & vegetables shall grace my plate) to compensate for one pound gain last week.
MONDAY: Get stressed out over work, kids, the fact that my body requires sleep despite the fact that I need all 24 hours just to get everything that needs to be done, done.
TUESDAY: Eat 1/2 bag of Lay’s Salt & Vinegar chips while working late in front of the computer.
WEDNESDAY: Wake up at 6:00 a.m. and work out twice as long as usual to ease guilt of having eaten 1/2 bag of Lays Salt & Vinegar chips while working late in front of the computer.
THURSDAY: Eat remaining 1/2 bag of Lays Salt & Vinegar chips (why didn’t I throw them out when I was feeling guilty?) for breakfast while shuttling kids around in the van.
FRIDAY: Wake up at 6:00 a.m. and work out twice as long as usual to ease guilt of having eaten remaining 1/2 bag of Lays Salt & Vinegar chips for breakfast yesterday.
SATURDAY: Stare in amazement at the scale – FIVE POUNDS DOWN? Surely this scale is broken and what you mean is five pounds GAINED. Resist the urge to blurt out "eat a bag of chips" when Weight Watchers Leader asks, "what did you do differently this week?"
SATURDAY NIGHT: Reflect, once glow of success has faded, that eating chips & guilty work outs are not, after all, a healthy approach to long-term weight loss and maintenance. Reluctantly give up plans to sell "Salt & Vinegar Diet" to Lays for millions of dollars. Vow to eat well all week (oh, so many fruits & vegetables shall grace my plate) to compensate for poor food choice last week.
Kath is a Calgary mom to two girls (nearly 6 and 3) who has lost 34 pounds since May. She really, really wants to feel loved, so please leave her a comment when you visit!

mmm..salt and vinegar chips…
you HAVE to let yourself a little fun..and you did only eat half a bag at a time…if that’s not willpower, i don’t know what is!

50 POUNDS!!!!! I congratulate the both of you. So far you have almost lost the entire weight of my sister in law! (she weighs 90 pounds or there abouts).
So now after reading this I’m off my butt to hit the gym for my treadmill workout.

OK…all this talk about chips has made me crave them! I’m with you Lisa. How did you eat just 1/2…talk about will power!!
Lisa says
Well if half a bag of chips means that you work out twice as much, then it’s working for you! Keep going! You’re a great role model!
🙂 Lisa
PS> The REAL secret that I want in on is HOW did you manage to eat just HALF a bag of chips???????

Kath – You would have made a lot of people happy, if not thin or healthy, with the Salt and Vinegar diet!

Way to go Kath! A bag of chips over the week isn’t going to hurt you too much…it’s the bag of chips a day that’s killing me! (well, not quite that bad, but still!)
I’m so proud of you!

Jen, thanks for your encouragement – I hear you about not letting something like this totally derail the whole process. As my WW leader is fond of saying, “how did we get here in the first place?”
As for the hubster, he has lost nearly 50 lbs now! He’s the slender young man I fell in love with again (okay, less hair, but just as slender).
Haley-O, thanks for your comment, and I’m so happy things are working out for you at WW, too. You’re right – getting to choose any foods is a drawback of WW, but it can be a benefit, too…I can’t imagine not being able to have certain foods at all. I think this aspect of WW is kind of like tough love – you either get it and smarten up for good, or you can’t hack it and give up. Right now I’m aiming for that lifetime membership – it’s all about the status… 😉

FIVE POUNDS?! That’s great! You must feel so amazing. How is your hubby doing? So great to see you doing so well, staying on track, and keeping a level head.
So many times when I tried to lose weight in the past a bag of chips would have put me over the edge and I wouldn’t have bothered going back…at least not until I’d put all the weight back on and was starting from scratch…again. Good for you!

Awesome, Kath! I mean, that you lost 5 pounds is good and all, but it’s awesome that you reflected on the huge loss and realized your method was unhealthy in the long run. Awesome.
The problem with WeightWatchers: it’s easy to fill a day’s worth of points with unhealthy foods….More fruits and vegetables is a good healthy plan for both of us!
