Just as I thought “Santa’s watching you!!” was losing its power, something much more powerful showed up at our house Tuesday night.
His name is Tony Hawk and he is our Elf On The Shelf.
He arrives every December and each night after we have all gone to sleep he returns back to the North Pole and gives Santa a report on how everything was in our home that day. Was homework done? Did everybody get along? Did they brush their teeth?
And the next morning the kids wake up and go on a Tony-hunt. He finds a new spot to sit every day. Sometimes he has little notes and sometimes not.

He first arrived last year and he came with a hardcover book explaining what he is all about. (Cam named him during his Tony Hawk Nintendo DS game obsession).
One rule is that you cannot touch Tony. That was a big one last year for the kids – they were afraid he would lose his magic if you touched him. So the first thing Cuyler did when he saw our little buddy in the morning was run upstairs to his bedroom and make a sign.

He taped it on the wall beside the tree and it will follow Tony to wherever he goes in the house.
Like on top of the mantle, where the kids will find him Thursday morning.
I can’t wait to see what antics this little guy gets up to over the course of the next few weeks.
It’s a good thing he’s so darn cute otherwise I might get annoyed with a little elf flitting all over my house, tattling on my kids every night.

Awesome Jen!! Love his name!
I wish ours had a cute name. Tony Hawk just doesn’t suit him…I should have let Eva name him. She would have named him Amy. She named everything Amy last year.

You can get them at most independent toy stores or specialty toy stores. We got ours at one in Guelph last year. It comes in a really nice box to store him in during the “off season” and it comes with a hard cover book explaining his role during the holidays. They are absolutely adorable and it has become one of my favourite parts of Christmas. It’s like a little bit of Christmas morning every morning as we head downstairs and wonder where he’ll be found!

I LOVE THIS! Where did you get Tony Hawk the elf? I need one of them in my house.

Holy crap…I love this. Better than the no Wiggles threat… What the hell can I use the other 11 months???
