Britain’s Got Talent.
If only I could. This show puts America’s Got Talent to shame. And frankly I can’t seem to nail down the one thing that separates it from the rest. Nope, it isn’t just one thing. It’s everything. The judges (do I even need to mention David “The Hoff” Hasselhoff?) , the hosts (seriously, they may be total dorks but Ant & Dec just crack me up), the audiences (why does British booing come off as less crass, less rude?), the talent. Oh, the talent! You name it, & across the pond it’s just better.
So I had a free hour last Sunday (yes, an hour all to myself on Mother’s Day – priceless), & I pretty much spent it alternating between laughing my behind off & my jaw dropping to the floor in awe watching Britain’s Got Talent clip after clip on YouTube. No doubt you have all heard of Susan Boyle (really if you haven’t you either a) don’t own a computer, b) don’t own a television, or c) have been living in a tree like that woman on Grey’s a few weeks ago who was sending her poop down in a bucket. Focus Margot, stay on task). You have probably also heard of 10-year old ballerina/singer Hollie Steel (all I could think was young Julie Andrews) & 12-year old Shaheen Jafargholi (who frankly did a better job singing “Who’s Loving You” than Michael Jackson). But there is also this ridiculously good dance group called Flawless. And Jamie Pugh, a guy who works 2 jobs & suffers from terrible stage fright, & then goes out & does this. But my absolute, hands-down favourite is the father & son dance act Stavros Flatly. O.M.G. The best. The outfits. The tatoos. The wigs. The poses. The shocking fact that they can both actually dance!! I can just imagine these two performing for the Queen (one of the prizes for winning on the show). Hysterical. And I can totally see her chuckling over this.
So I’m going to have to be checking Britain’s Got Talent’s website for future fixes & to see how my favs progress throughout the show. All the while being jealous of my cousin & her husband who just get to turn on the tele & enjoy the madness!
