We’ve made a few small changes in the kitchen that make it better.
First, we installed wall shelves between the fridge and the counter. There’s still wasted space in between the wall and the counter and lower cabinets but this is the best we can do for now. It’s surprisingly helpful. And you can’t see them from the rest of the kitchen.
We brought John’s mom’s bread table up from Temagami (it was stored in the shop). It served as an island in our last kitchen. It gives us a little more counter space. It’s not perfect because it’s lower than counter height but again, it will do for now. And it was already painted red.
John installed shelves in the “broom closet”, making it into a very deep pantry cupboard. Not only did this cupboard not have shelves, it didn’t have holes to put in brackets for shelves. So it was a bigger job than it looks like. We put down a leaf in the table, moved it closer to the pantry, and got a nice new table cloth.
I’m thinking of putting a wall mounted paper towel roll here and maybe mesh hanging fruit baskets. Opinions on this?
The entry way is also very tight. There’s not much more we can do here for now. Maybe get rid of the shelf and wall mounted shelf and make some sort of built in. Excuse the box of recycling on the floor, it’s gone now.
