The Hike

January 30, 2012 by Christine

Saturday evening Eva decided that Sunday morning would be the perfect time for the family to take a hike. She talked about it all night. Talked about our hike. And going on our hike and what we would do on our hike and where we would go for our hike.

Suffice to say she was psyched about the hike.
The whole family had to go together so we waited until Sean had picked Cam up from his sleepover the night before. We bundled up and headed out on foot to the little gem hiding behind our street.

We let the little one lead the way.

We looked for animal tracks and wondered if beavers built the “dams” that we saw and wondered where the frogs in the stream went

We stopped and looked at things we thought were cool – like this “baby prickle monster”

We saw huge trees that were downed and tried balancing on some of them

Stopped for forced photo ops

And we appreciated this little bit of bliss that’s hidden in our own backyard.  Together.

Clever little girl guide! M and I have our Sunday morning hike to feed the ducks, it is a highlight in my week. I’m not sure who said it but our problems seem smaller when we’re outdoors. It’s humbling. Love the pic of your fearless leader 🙂
