The Force Is With Him

August 4, 2010 by Christine

The G Force that is.
I think it affects his body very different than it affects everyone else.  It relaxes him as opposed to tensing him up like it does to most.

We took the boys to Playdium on Monday.  Eva wanted to go to Ikea with gramma and grampa so it was a nice Boys Day for me.
Cuyler made a beeline for the Max Force Roller Coaster Simulator.  He was adamant that he was going on it.  I thought “Heh…I like roller coasters.  I’ll go on.”  Which worked out well as Sean was adamant that he not go on it.
Cuyler and I get in:

(sorry for the crappy blackberry pics)
mxflt.jpgThe guy straps us in and locks the overhead bars in between our legs (he apologized as he did mine…)  He then closes the capsule and locks us into it:

And then something like this takes place (note – this is not us):

I realize once it starts that I haven’t ridden a big coaster since before I had Cam…maybe my body won’t respond the way it used to…
I start to think “Oh boy…”
Then “Oh geeeez…”
Then “Oh crap”
“Oh shit”
F************ck.
Yep…my body isn’t responding with the excitement that it used to.
I feel yucky.
I grab Cuyler’s arm.
I unsquinch my eyes and look over at him, hoping that he’s not scared.
And I see PURE EXHILARATION.
And about halfway through the ride I hear “TO INFINITY AND BEYOOOND!”
Cuyler.  He’s laughing and giggling and cannot get enough.  He’s Buzz Lightyear and he loves it.
The ride stops.  I wobble out.
Cuyler bounds out and he exclaims “That was so fun!  I had so much fun!”
That made the next 15 minutes of nausea SO worth it.
I think we’ll have to get season’s passes to Wonderland next year.

I agree, it get’s worse with age.
I love reading your blog, I find it very down to earth. I get a laugh and a cry in once in awhile and I love it. A friend of mine is selling limited edition necklaces for a fund raiser for a new school playground. She is an autisim supporter and I right away thought of you and Cuyler and your blog. Here is her blog if you want to check it out. ~~ http://www.olevjewelrydesigns.blogspot.com

OMG! I think I’d puke too! We get worse as we get older. Why is that?
    Cheers!
