This past Sunday I decided to give the old Christmas Card photo one more try. After the debacle the last time I tried, I went in mixed – hoping it would work but there was a litte niggle in my mind that it would be tough. I went outside for better light. I’ve always taken great pics of the kids on the porch.
Sean suggested that I wait for another day. He had spent the weekend with Cam in Niagara Falls, New York at a 3 day hockey tournament. I believe they played the worst tournament schedule in the history of minor hockey:
Friday 7am, 12:10pm (the 7am game required them to leave Thursday night)
Saturday 8am
Sunday 6:30AM – yes…six thirty IN THE MORNING.

Anyways. Sean was sure that with all the early mornings, hotel swimming and mini stick playing Cam did that he was sure to be too tired to even smile.
And he was right. My bad for even trying.
But I stayed positive.
Okay well not really.
Okay well not really.
I was actually getting really pissed off.
Could you at least try to pretend to be happy? Just for just the length of time it takes for the camera shutter to operate? That’s like? What? half a second…?

Part of me was mad at myself for even bothering.
Part of me wanted to throw my camera at him.
The good news is that when I uploaded them onto the laptop there were actually TWO that I wouldn’t have been embarrassed to send out to friends and family. So I picked one and the cards are going into the mail today. I’ll post the pic when I think they’ve all been received.
What about you? Do you send holiday cards? Do you include photos?

Yup….I love these photos because they’re real. And they make me laugh! Send me your address so I can send you one of our holiday cards…I promise it will make you feel better about your own!

the 2nd last photo is the best IMO. i love the look on your eldest’s face. if i got that card i would smile every time i see it. i’m not trying to take away from your truly superior efforts for “the” shot but it shows human children which is so cool!

LOL Sara – I told Sean that people who don’t know us might think that Cam is the autistic one. Is that bad…?
Sara says
I love how Cuy looks awesome in all of these…..

I love these photos because they are not perfect. They are wonderful. Classic girl between trying to make it all good. I have two brothers- i remember this role.
You have a gorgeous family!

Pictures outside are ALWAYS the best which is kind of why I am absolutely crying about the winter…

These are so much better, doll!! And yes, I would have been pissed too – can’t they JUST co-operate for FIVE SECONDS??! Ack. (And yes, it was probably a bad time to try and snap anything happy.)
I’ve never sent a holiday photo card, actually. I’ve hardly send a card in years, come to think of it… I always intend to – they get written – and then they somehow never get actually addressed or mailed. Le sigh. I’m a Christmas Failure, man.
I’m sure yours will be sooooo lovely, Christine! Good girl!!

makes me think of that new commercial where you just crop the head out and pop a new one in. I’ll bet the one you picked will be cherished by all who receive it!

Every year we plan to send cards out– every year we forget. I’m so proud of you for making the effort! My husband and I actually got together about two nights ago and worked out our gameplan for our first ever holiday card, which will just be the kids… they photograph better, and nobody cares about what we look like. Heh. 😉 I think it’ll just be a postcard type thing with Happy Holidays and the smiling children and a tiny personalized note on the back.
