Last night I was going a bit nuts “stumbling” all over the internet. We have cabin fever here because the temperatures have been in the negative 20s & 30s with windchills down to negative 46 today! We had to miss skiing yesterday due to temps and illness….we all have really, really bad colds. The gils have coughs that are bordering on croupy and wake up with their eyes stuck together every morning….poor girls…and poor mommy & daddy who are up in the night with the coughing fits. Long story short, I’ve come across some new sites, and of course, read some of my favourites.
Outrage: When parents Cross the Line, by Annie @ PHD in Parenting is a post about that imaginary line in our minds. The line between “do what is best for your family” and “that is cruel, abusive, neglectful”. Is it OK to critisize and discuss parenting choices and have discussions, or should we never judge? As usual, Annie writes with clarity and insight. This post is very relevant to those who read and write parenting blogs and reflect on their parenting choices as well as the choices of others. There is a really fascinating discussion in the comments. I left a comment and checked off for the email notification of new comments and my email was full of comments on this post every time I checked it. The comments are a must read.
My next choice is a satire of mommy judging. I love the Mompetition blog, it makes me laugh and think. Just the title of this one made me laugh. Lies Make Baby Jesus Cry, (Dale, I can hear you laughing in my head) is a conversation between two moms about whether to have Santa as part of your Christmas. I love the first line!
Can’t. Stop. Laughing. Enjoy, and while you’re there check out the other posts.
Ahhh, world travel, will I ever experience you again? I hope so. I would love to travel with my kids someday, like Heather and her family will be. First I have some other goals to take care of and then I will add that one. This post is the top 10 backpacker destinations for 2011, This one’s for you Ursi!
Speaking of traveling, I would love to teach overseas someday soon. My friend Diana told me about the Green School in Bali. It seems to embody many of my views on education and the environment. I’m almost reluctant to put it out there and attract more interest to it (less competition), however, it’s already quite famous. Link to the Ted Talk by founder John Hardy, it’s great.
Well thats all for this Sunday, let me know what you think.

too funny! i have run in to that sort of situation, too….santa is a fairy tale, how can you lie to your kids but kids are a miracle that just “show up!”
