Every summer, when I was growing up, I spent weeks at my grandparent’s cottage; swimming, water-skiing, playing cards & board games, reading Archie & Richie Rich comics, playing dress-up, going to town for Chelsea buns and ice-cream, going to Trudy’s general store to spend my allowance on candy. It was a blessed childhood summer. Often we were there with our cousins which made it double the fun.
Now I’m lucky that my parents & my aunt own “The Sausage” and the “Cocktail Sausage”. “The Sausage” is the main cottage on Sausage Lake, the “Cocktail Sausage” is the smaller “bunkie” cottage, altogether there are 8 bedroom. There are multiple layers of decks, a fire pit, canoe, paddle boat, & a 15 HP boat (were trying to convince Grandpa that we need a more powerful motor for water skiing).
Now my girls hang out with their cousins & friends, swimming, tubing, playing board games and having a wonderful summer.
The best part is that we get to hang out with our extended family and a rotating roster of friends all summer long.
Oh Yeah – we also have our extended family together for Thanksgiving.
Yup, I’m a lucky woman.
Here are some of my favourite images of life at “The Sausage”.

oooh looks amazing! We used to rent a place for two weeks every year and I have memories of that but to have an all summer place – especially at thanksgiving – I’m so jealous!
