I’m now officially in nesting mode – cleaning, organising, throwing out and donating. It feels great, and I’m determined to welcome this baby with a well-organised, calm home (I can dream!). No. 3, as he/she is currently known, will be taking over the nursery. In anticipation of that, my husband and I put our two older kids into a bedroom together and for the past 4 months they’ve been sharing a futon quite happily. A couple of weeks ago, their newly-ordered bunk beds arrived, along with gorgeous polka-dotted bedding that I ordered from my new online shopping obsession www.garnethill.com.
These are the beds we got at Bunk House Kids, on Avenue Road in Toronto – ours are in white:
and the sheets and duvet – white with blue dots for my son and red dots for my little girl:
Monday was spent pulling it all together as I adorned the pristine white beds with their cosy new duvets and crisp, percale sheets. I couldn’t wait for my babies to sleep in their new beds, and was thrilled when they showed the same excitement I was feeling. My husband and I tucked them in, cooed over their undeniable adorableness and made our way downstairs to watch a screener DVD copy of Juno (my 2nd time, his first – a great film). Upstairs was silent and we were pleased that the kids had gone to bed so easily after a gregarious Family Day weekend.
On my way to bed, I peeked in to look at my sleeping children and lo and behold here’s what I found:
My daughter, drenched in my foundation: Color Stay by Revlon – may I emphasize the "color stay" portion of that title. I backtracked her steps and found a pool of foundation in the bathroom, opened blush and eye shadow, and all my make-up brushes covered in foundation. Then, I found little foundation-footprints on the carpet all the way to her bed and the newly-laid white with red polka dot sheets soiled with beige foundation…all over.
My husband was laughing hysterically, and my sobs quickly turned to laughter as well. So much for my pride in the new bedroom look – my little one had her own ideas about christening the new sheets. By the way, the stains didn’t completely come out, but they faded quite a bit.

OMG! I would have cried too. Colour stay didn’t seem to have a down side until now.
BEAUTIFUL bed and sheets! And I love the fact that your daughter is wearing Superman jammies. She and my little girl would definitely get along.

LOL about the “colour stay” portion 😉
She is adorable, but evidently needs a bit of practice blending the foundation 😉 again.
What a cute story and kudos on keeping your sense of humour and being clever enough to snap a picture of her. She’s adorable!

I’m glad you managed to laugh Amreen. The sheets are beautiful.
