Ali! HELP! I love that you are doing this new column, because I really need your help. I got an Indigo gift card for Christmas from my boss and I am really excited to buy books that aren’t from the children’s section. But, I need some recommendations please! I’d really like to read something that isn’t a picture book. Can you help me?
When Jane emailed me looking for book recommendations, I was really excited because, you see, I’m a reader and getting an Indigo gift card as a gift makes me smile for days! I hope I can make Jane smile with some great book options! These are just a few from my MUST READ list:
1. The Help – Kathryn Stockett
2. The Virgin Suicides – Jeffrey Eugenides
3. Water for Elephants – Sara Gruen
4. My Lobotomy – Howard Dully
5. I am the Messenger – Markus Zusak
6. The History of Love – Nicole Krauss
7. Love Walked In – Marisa de los Santos
8. Love in the Time of Cholera – Gabriel Garcia Marquez
9. Into the Wild – Jon Krakauer
10. Those Who Save Us – Jenna Blum

This is fascinating! How did you learn about this when you were a newcomer to it?

This post is really good but I just like to discover more. Can you suggest any other reference that is not in top 30 in G? I checked out those and it doesn’t help me much as I need this time. Thank you in advance! Again, very good post and sorry for the long comment

If you ask me about gift cards, I generally make use of them. The occasions when I discover exactly what to get are extremely rare and for this reason i choose gift cards.

I think this is the 5th post i am reading continuously in this blog , without a pause. And it’s been almost an hour. Time passes such fast while reading these posts.

We have very similar taste, Ali. I’ve read six of those, and will add the other four to my wish list. I just finished The Help this weekend and really enjoyed it. Was thinking of suggesting it for my new book club!
