Okay, believe it or not…it snowed again here…BIG TIME!
Here’s the view off my back deck on the morning of May 24th:
And here’s the tree in our front lawn…completely bowed-over by heavy snow. In fact, lots of people lost branches or entire trees in this storm. I just hate when innocent trees die in spring blizzards! Luckily ours sprang right back after the snow melted.
Anyway, this time – so proud of myself – I didn’t let the snow hold me back! I did get a run in on Thursday morning (on a treadmill at the gym, but still!) and I felt so much better for it. It’s amazing what can happen when you just say no! to excuses. It’s snowing…so what? There’s a treadmill with my name on it at the gym.
And the same with my "last ten pounds" – it’s hard to lose it, yes. So what? Cut the excuses and just do it.
This train of thought came along at a perfect time for me, as the them of Saturday’s Weight Watcher’s meeting was "Summer Goal Setting". We had just over 12 weeks until Labour Day and our leader asked us to set a realistic, specific goal to achieve before then. I gave it some serious thought before I settled on my goal.
In twelve weeks, I have decided that I want to be at my goal, 155 pounds, in the maintenance period, and on my way to lifetime membership. A bit ambitious but also definitely attainable. I just have to cut the excuses (we’re hosting relatives for Sunday dinner? So what?) and make sure that I keep my goal front and centre, and I know I’ll be able to achieve it.
But I am going to have to really cut out the excuses, since I actually gained 0.6 pounds last week – argh! So I have a 12-week goal, and in order to get there I have broken in down into smaller goals, starting with this week’s goals:
1. I will accurately track (aka journal) everything I eat this week.
2. I will drink 8 glasses of water every day (before I crack into the Diet Pepsi)
…and this will help me…
3. …lose weight at my next weigh-in.

Congrats on your re-commitment Cath. I have jsut started WW on-line and have been working on a goal a week. This weeks’ goal is to plan each day ahead as best I can so that I will already know what I am eating and when so I can stay within my points. It worked well Monday and Tuesday and I wasn’t planned on Wednesday and all hell broke loose. So I’m back at it today. You are my inspiration. I am with you every step of the way!

I CANNOT BELIEVE IT SNOWED LIKE THAT WHERE YOU ARE! I’m SHOCKED! SHOCKED! Like Jen said — speechless!
Here’s some motivation that’s worked for me lately: buy a new cookbook with healthy stuff in it! Make a summer soup that will last all week for lunches, etc. I’m feeling great!
Your goals are great motivation, too! I MUST drink more more more water — especially in this heat!

As we were enjoying an early hot spell you were dealing with THAT?! Wow. Speachless.
I am in the same position you are, Kath. Since completing the Sporting Life 10k I have run a total of 3 times. I am SO not motivated and today had a bowl of chips for lunch. Someone, PLEASE send me a little will power and motivation!!!!!!!!!!!!
