"Isabella, you’re so sweet. just like your sister was once"
"once?" she says and looks up at us with complete distaste. "Twice!" she said with conviction and went back to her coloring.
the husband and i couldn’t stop laughing. she’s full of piss and vinegar, that child.
this morning the two of us braved the cold and wind and went to her 8 am interview for grade 1 at Associated. she sure impressed the pants right off the principal. she was charming. happy. delightful. gave all the right answers. who was this child?
it’s become very clear to me that she was put on this earth as retaliation. she is to me what i was to my mother. it’s now come full circle. my mother said many a time while i was pregnant, "i hope you have one who was just like you" well, someone was listening, because i got my clone. not only does she look like me (actually, more like my mother) but she IS me.
she can be moody and broody or she can be a joy of joys. she can be happy – when she wants to be. and she can be a compelete nasty bitch – when she wants to be. she’s one bright cookie and is a master of her moods. she uses the right ones to get what she wants. most of the time, when she and i are together, she uses all her energy to drive me batty. she’s whiny and annoying and rude and obnoxious (just like a teenager…except she’s only 5)…but this morning, in that office, i’d never been so proud of her in my life. i was like a great googly-woogly pile of mush, beaming from ear to ear, as she read out loud and made patterns with shapes and wrote her name just like a champ.
holy shit. my daughter is going to be in first grade next year.

Full of potential that little one! Sounds like it is a mom/daughter thing…my 4 year old scares me sometimes she is so much like me. Funny how the things you love most about your kids are also the things that drive you INSANE! Can’t have one without the other though 😉

when shes a teenager try and tell her shes like you.that goes over really well.my 14 year old doesn’t want to be anything like me yet shes the one most like me…my baby looks like i did when small and my son always has his nose in a book like me and my little changeling well shes the most different from me.but i have an abundance of love for all my children even the teens who don’t always like me.
