Confession: this post title is brought to you by a very bad play off my personal blog’s name, She Likes Purple. But, another couple confessions: I do like the color purple and I also like looking (and feeling!) good. So, am I cheesy? Yes! But, I’m honest too.
See, a little over a year ago — at the start of 2010 — I stepped on the scale and weighed 178 pounds. This was almost a year after having my son — Kyle; he’s pure awesome — and a year of doing a lot of carb-loading and couch-surfing. I decided, then and there, that enough was enough. I slowly began running, eating better, shredding along with Jillian Michaels (although I have to mute her or I’d never survive through that half hour), and working toward a healthier and happier version of myself.
Along the way I ran a few 5Ks (the longest distance I’d run up to that point) and a 10K (which nearly killed me with both exhaustion and pride), lost the baby weight and then some and while I’m still 20 pounds away from my goal, I’ve lost 30 pounds so far and gained a whole lot of pride.
{Me, October 2010}
I have a lot more goals — finishing a half marathon, working with a personal trainer, and even finally buying a nice pair of investment jeans — and I’m excited to accomplish these goals and share them with you, but I’d also like to hear about your goals. More than anything, I believe in the power of a supportive community. It takes a village, strength in numbers, yada yada.
A little more about me: I’m nearing thirty quickly (and am surprisingly fine with that!), am married to a very funny redhead, and together we have a two-year-old little boy who is obsessed with Cars and who is so adorable, it’s ridiculous. (I also have a dog, Molly, who hates that she got dropped to a parenthetical mention since the kid came along.)
I blog about my life, my marriage, my kid, and a million other odds and ends at She Likes Purple, and I edit and write about pretty things at Style Lush and delicious things at Food Lush.
I live in Texas where the scenery kind of sucks but the margaritas kind of don’t, and a few things I love not previously mentioned: shoes, bad TV, hosting parties, traveling, and a well-made cheeseburger.
It’s great to be here.
