With the 32 week mark upon me I can finally say that my house is prepared for a baby.
Almost.
Essentially.
I mean, I’m only missing a few things. Like diapers…and formula…but other than that I am GOLDEN.
This weekend my mom stepped up for me once again, she loaded herself up and came to visit to help me with some housework. The sheer amount of work that we put in today is really quite amazing considering the fact that I’m 8 months pregnant and we had a toddler in tow.
We started this morning by shampooing ALL of the carpets, which I don’t have a lot of carpet but enough that it took my mom several hours to do. I didn’t do much but stand around and watch and help pick things up off the floor and move a few things around. We also removed about eleventy billion milk stains from all my furniture. Everything is bright and shiny and looking like new. Completely ready for the new baby to pee, poop, puke and spill her milk on.
After all that was done we set to putting the baby’s room to order. Starting with the crib. Maybe I’m just overly competent at furniture assembly but I simply don’t understand how it takes people hours to assemble a crib. I had this one together in less than 30 minutes.
Arranging all the dang furniture. I swear we moved every piece at least 10 times and tried every configuration possible before deciding that one piece was going to have to be removed from the equation. The short straw ended up going to the dresser and it was stuck in the closet. It does take away quite a bit of rod/shelf/floor space but I figure by the time she needs a full closet we’ll be able to ditch the changing table anyway.
Here are a couple more shots of the room. All I need to do now is get some girly stuff on the walls. YAY!
I probably did a little more “heavy lifting” than I should have and I’m extra tired tonight but hopefully that just means I’ll actually get some sleep.
Wishful thinking I’m sure.

Well done! I was in your shoes about 4 months ago…getting ready for baby with kids running underfoot! It’s hard work, but feels good to get it all done.

Oh Jen, it looks terrific! And you’re right about the dresser – it’s perfect in the closet for now. I agree with Heather – no more heavy lifting, mmmkay? Baby needs to be hard boiled, and not soft… it’s so soon!! Excited for you, babe. (And also? your mum rocks to come and help you like that. Awesome!)
