ROFLMAO-Not your average Book Club

January 10, 2011 by Nancy

ROFLMAO.jpg

The whole way up to my cottage for our annual book club weekend I am thinking to myself in a desperate way – I  don’t have time to do this, why am I doing this, I shouldn’t be doing this.

Lately I have been feeling more than just a little overwhelmed by life and work.  In fact I often feel when I am leaving my life (and children) behind that I am doing something wrong or that I have left something undone that will make things fall apart.
Soon though, I begin to relax. This time it took longer than usual, all the duties and pressures swirling around in my head.
Fire on, walk shovelled, cottage getting warm. Everyone arriving. Wine is poured, things are nibbled on before dinner.  I become aware again that we are all  struggling to balance all of it. Everyone worked hard to get away- barely getting out alive. No one complains or crumbles under the weight of busy children, some with troubles right now, aging and ill parents, demanding work schedules, challenges in all corners.
But you can feel it and that is why you have to push for times like these.
Here is how you put it together;
Take 7 women, each bright, funny, connected and fun-loving.

add rich and delicious food beautifully prepared

don’t forget great movies and copious amounts of junk food

Did I mention we never discussed the book?
*** In case you are living under a rock like I obviously am -I just learned last week that ROFLMAO stands for ROLLING ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING MY ASS OFF

    Nancy -speaking of eating have you seen the book, The Family Dinner???
    One of Heather’s picks this Christmas and I gave it to my daughter.
    Page 189 talks about the divorced family and uses many of the words that you do with her children…not broken etc. Worth looking at.
