Mr. Coffee has long been synonymous with quality drip coffee makers. They’ve now joined the ranks of single-serve, ready-brew systems. Recently, they announced the Mr Coffee Single-Serve Brewing System, developed with Keurig and now available at stores across Canada.
I’ve had a chance to try out the Mr Coffee Brewing System and it certainly carves its own place in the marketplace.
- At a suggested retail price of $79.95 this is by far the most budget-friendly version of the Keurig systems
- Size: While many coffee brewers take up tons of room on countertops, the Mr. Coffee system is small and compact
- Style: Sleek. Simple. Elegant.
Cons:
- There is a penalty to pay for size and style. The system only holds enough water for a single cup of coffee. Additional cups means additional fills.
- While some of the fancier k-cup systems have functions such as Auto On/Off; Temperature Control; and the like, this system is fairly bare bones.
In short, the Mr Coffee Single-Serve Brewing System certainly fills a void in this already saturated market. Perfect to leave up at your cottage, or install at the office – it is low maintenance and compact compared to similar brew systems available. If you have a galley kitchen or a bar where you’ve been hesitant to add a large counter-top gadget, the Mr. Coffee is a small, sleek option that really was not available until now. At the end of the day, it is a small, affordable way to brew your coffee – one delicious cup at a time.

I agree about the waste. However, I do know you can get a reusable filter for the regual Keurig machines.

We have purchased both a Tassimo and a Keurig system, and returned them both within a few days. We found both systems couldn’t fill the cup properly and the coffee was much too strong for our liking, well my liking.
I also don’t like the extra waste these machines create. At least with a traditional brewing system, I can throw the filter and grinds in my compost.
