Like most UrbanMoms, mornings are a crazy blur in my little part of the world. I find myself in a whirl of packing lunches, signing agendas, finding library books, checking homework, and by the time I get the kids out the door and stumble out myself, it’s not unusual for me to realize that I haven’t eaten anything for breakfast. Maybe I’ve eaten a crust of toast that someone rejected, but one of the 7-10 servings of fruit and vegetables recommended for me each day? Unlikely.
This week Tim Hortons has introduced a convenient way of adding more fruit to our diets with their new Real Fruit Smoothies. They come in two flavours, Strawberry Banana, and the Mixed Berry that I tested. They’re fat-free, made with real fruit and do not contain artificial colours or flavours. I prefer a creamier smoothie, so I added low-fat yogurt to mine.
The smoothies are delicious and filling, but at just 10 oz, they’re not too big for our kids, either. They’re another entry into Tim Hortons’ expansion of healthier snack options, and I’ll be back for more on another crazy, chaotic morning.
My only complaint? No roll up the rim on these cups!
Real Fruit Smoothies are now available at Tim Hortons locations across Canada for $1.99, and an additional $0.70 for yogurt.
