It’s sounds like such a spoiled-rotten, first-world thing to say, but coming back from a holiday is hard.
I am happy to be home, happy to see our kids and our friends, but I am tired and, as anticipated, having a tough time getting back into the groove of life. A girl can get used to lounging on the beach, eating out for dinner every night and savouring the luxury of finishing a sentence without having three children interrupting her.
Alas, the chaos is beautiful in its own way, and I am slowly adjusting to the grind once again. Boot camp, packing lunches, laundry, puddles of puppy piddle, night terrors, dirty floors, eggs and toast for dinner.
Rainbows in the rain, is how we live. Moments of joy, a sweet feeling of full hands and full hearts, all amidst the exhaustion and demands of this life.
