I may be a cat person, but even I am a little melty over these pups.

Audience: dog lovers of any age
This lovely picture-format book features a series of free verse poems about all things doggy – from naming to what dogs do and don’t like to what they dream of – told from the puppy point of view. Sounds like it could be hokey? It could, but it works out as cute, instead. Maybe it’s how well the dog’s-eye-view is imagined, maybe it’s the combination of innocence and cheekiness.
One thing’s for sure – the illustrations are heart-melting. As I say, I’m all about cats, but these sweet faces are tipped up to the reader’s eye, and filled with eager, dewy-eyed enthusiasm perfectly caught. From the fur, fluffy or sleek, to the wet noses and sparkling eyes, the paintings are gorgeous and a treat for any dog-lover.
I’ve listed the audience as any age because I think these poems would be enjoyed by a young child or an adult alike, as long as they have a soft spot for puppies and the mischief they can get into.
