I enjoy taking photographs of my kids. A few years ago, a good friend of mine who is a professional photographer, spent an afternoon showing me the manual functions of my Digital SLR camera. While I have nowhere near mastered the art of photography, my level of enjoyment has definitely gone up since I now understand how to shoot manually and control the aperture and shutter speed of my camera.
I would love to invest in my little hobby and buy a better camera, some sweet lenses, and take it to the next level, but since I have no aspirations of making a business of it, it’s kind of hard to justify the expense. If I could have whatever I wanted in my photography arsenal, it would cost well over $5000 as a starting point, and we sure don’t have that kind of cash just laying around.
Until then, I’ll play with my little Canon Rebel and its kit lens and do my best, capturing the moments of our sweet little girls.
Here’s one I took of Brinley this morning. The natural light was streaming through our windows and I tried to catch her smiling:
What about you? Do you have any dormant hobbies that you’re waiting to pursue once you have more money or time? What are they?

I like to read, I like to think, I like to talk stuff over with other people who like to read and think. Since my kids have started walking and talking my reading and thinking has diminished greatly and my ability to have an uninterrupted conversation has been completely revoked. So someday when I am old, I shall wear purple and read and think and talk.

Love your blog…first time posting 🙂
I’m in the same boat photography wise. The 50 1.8 lens is pretty amazing for its price, i love it!! So much nicer than the kit lens and only a little over $100 bucks.

Does an education count?
That’s where all my money and energy is going. It’ll be worth it, right?
I always wanted to get into photography. I am beyond frustrated with my cheap little point and shoot camera. Art. Craftiness in general. I started to learn how to quilt ages long ago. In high school I used to design and sew my own dresses.
Sigh.
Now all I do is read books and write papers. I miss all that stuff.

I’m with ya, lady. I don’t even look at cameras anymore because I know it’s SO far from becoming a reality. *sigh*

I really want an embroidery machine so I can expand my business 🙂 But, that would be about $5000
I also want a Canon Rebel 🙂
I wanted a kitchenaid so I could bake easier, but thanks to you blogging on this site, I entered an urban mom’s contest and won one!! So there’s one down….lol

I am going to take a class on how to use my camera starting this month. I’ve had mine for three years now and I still have no clue how to use it and I can’t wait to find out how to do more with it. But my main hobby is sewing and I’m glad that I get to have some time to sew. Less now that I work in the afternoons but more than I would if I had more than one kid! Occasionally, I get a whole day with no one around and I love to just sit down and sew with my DVR’ed shows to listen to in the background.

I’ve posted before about my desire for a SLR. I alway have my point and shoot, everywhere I go. I’d love to have a really good camera for better quality shots.
I am saving for a canon T2i…could take awhile.
I would like to float away on those cheeks!
Hope to see more pics of your gorgeous girls!
