The highly anticipated exhibition of Picasso: Masterpieces from the Musee National Picasso, Paris is coming to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) from May 1 to August 26, 2012. This is the only Canadian stop that will be made on this exhibition’s world tour bringing its vast 147 highlights from the Musee’s collection.
The exhibition will include pieces from Pablo Picasso’s personal and family collections which will give attendees a very rare and private look into one of the most influential artists of the 20th century.
This important exhibition has been created for all ages featuring special audio tours created just for kids. And FYI many of our schools often include Picasso in the arts curriculum at an early age!
Families can also find a new resting spot in the Family Creative Lounge in the Margaret & Jim Fleck Gallery with their own space to relax and have fun while engaging with art-making ideas in an area designed just for them. The Weston Family Learning Centre will offer families a dedicated area for hands-on art and creative play.
Spend the day and round off your experience with a Spanish-inspired menu at the acclaimed FRANK restaurant at the AGO. This summer, award winning executive chef Anne Yarymowich will create dishes that will transport you to Spain. You’ll be sure to find me there on Paella night Tuesdays!
Several events and talks are also planned during the exhibit including the fascinating discussion on Picasso and the Art Market – a look at Picasso’s personal relationships with his art dealers and the impact of world affairs as well as his legacy in the international trade.
Timed-entry tickets to this family-friendly exhibition are currently on sale. For more information on tickets, special events, family activities, and FRANK please visit the AGO website at www.ago.net/picasso
