Pounds Lost: 41.4
Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post! You lived up to your half of the bargain, and I’ll live up to mine. I went to Weight Watchers this morning and weighed in, for the first time in FOUR WEEKS. I thought it had been three, but as you can see from my membership book at right, I had last weighed in – at an even 175 pounds, bringing in a 2.6 pound loss for that week – on November 4th.
Now, I have to admit that I wasn’t really too nervous going to the weigh-in today. I do have a scale at home (even if it does switch inexplicably from pounds to kilograms) so I knew I hadn’t really gained much – if any – weight during my month-long hiatus from Weight Watchers. And I was right. I weighed in this morning a scant 0.8 pounds higher than on November 4th.
On the one hand, that’s good news! It gave me some confidence that I’ll be able to manage the maintenance part of Weight Watchers (i.e. the REST OF MY LIFE!) On the other hand, I can’t help but feel that I’ve wasted four weeks when I could have been registering losses of 1, 2 — heck, maybe even 2.6 pounds! That would put me at 170 or even 165 right now. Crap! I haven’t weighed 165 since the day I went away to university. And then I might even have made it to my goal (being in the 150s) in 2006. *SIGH*
And for those of you who think that gaining nearly one pound in four weeks is something to be worried about, let me tell you a little story: one year when I was in university my family spent the Christmas holiday in Florida with my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. During the 14 days we were there, my sister and I both gained 12 pounds! So yes, certainly, at the rate of 0.8 pounds per month I could pack on a neat 10 pounds in a year, but I am a girl who can pack that much on in two weeks, so I’m sure you can see my point, here.
One thing I did notice over the past month, was that I didn’t slide too too much in my newly acquired good eating habits. I didn’t eat whole big bags of chips, or donuts, or chocolate bars. I did have a few glasses of wine with the gals – oh, and yeah, a few glasses of Baileys, too, but by and large, I was able to make reasonably good choices, eat to satisfaction, and not gorge on junk. So that’s got to be a victory for a compulsive emotional eater!
But all in all, I think the most important fact is that I didn’t give up. I got back on the wagon (with the help of my friends at urbanmoms.ca and, of course, my hubby) and now I’ve got my game back! I not only ate really, really well today, but I also tracked everything that crossed my lips (how many points are there in lip gloss, anyway? – joking!) which I have found to be the real key to success on Weight Watchers.
So…thanks to everyone for sticking by me and encouraging me. From here on in, it’s game on until I hit 150!

I found a great way to extend points on a daily basis when I read about a natural fat replacement ingredient called Z Trim on page 90 of the book “You on a Diet” by Oprah’s doctor, Mehmet Oz. I ordered off of the Z Trim web site and have been cooking with it for a few weeks now. It works and its easy. It lowers calories by replacing portions of the oils, butter, and other fats. It also adds fiber to foods, because it basically is corn fiber made into a gel, or power, that works like fat in most cooking. They say it is undetectable, and at this point that’s true. My cooking tastes like it always did. Check it out at ztrim.com (the only place to get the powder right now). Good luck !

Go Kath! Your words ring very true to me. I just lost 55lbs and have 20 more to go. I feel great but have been neglecting to focus on the ultimate goal of 75lbs total. What I know I need to do is regular exercise. My doctor and 2 of my friends who lost weight have told me the same thing. I noticed some of the comments below and tomorrow I am going to start running! I am going to do 1 minute running and 2 minutes walking for 1/2 an hour the first week and then move up from there. Wish me luck! I need it!
