Pair of Aces – Detective Agency – Introduction

February 16, 2012 by erinlittle

detectives.jpgI’d never been under surveillance before.  Not to my knowledge.  It’s quite a shock to find out that the privacy you thought you had was an illusion.  You have no idea how long it has been going on for; at least if the people “surveilling” you are any good.  And the pair of gumshoes that were surveilling me were good.  They were very good.

When it comes to spies, there are three possibilities.
There are the spies who are spies.  They infiltrate themselves into your life using years of training to remain psychologically invisible while physically visible.
And then there are the spies who are already in your life, and then they become spies.  Perhaps they get recruited by the C.I.A. or the MI5.
But the most insidious type of spy is the spy who doesn’t get recruited; she spontaneously metamorphosizes in your midst.  This is the type I was victimized by.  “Sleeper-Move Agents”; and five year olds at that!
The set-up was perfect.  They’re twins.  Identical twins.  Alibis, cover stories, think of the possibilities.
To be continued….
