i’m certainly living up to my Fabulous moniker tonight. the husband has gone out for sushi and spiderman…and i’m in bed, at 9:45, watching really, really bad tv. Boys and Girls, i believe it’s called. some Freddie Prinze Jr. movie with Jason Biggs and just about every other person who was in American Pie. i am so cool.
i also can’t help but be annoyed when movies try to put a pair of glasses on an actor and try to pass him or her off as UGLY. now, Freddie Prinze Jr. is not my favorite. he wouldn’t even make my top 20 pretend celebrity boyfriend list (and trust me…i have one) but he’s a fairly good looking guy. but, oh boy, strap a pair of glasses on him…and he’s so frightening i can’t even look at him. amazing the power of glasses. oh, and did you see She’s All That? yeah, i find it hard to believe that Rachael Leigh Cook was the ugliest girl they could pick to turn into the prom queen. oh no, don’t pick the girl who has acne or extra limbs or anything. pick the girl with the – SHOCKING – glasses!
anyway, this was so not the point of my post. just an observation. i observe a whole lot when i’m alone and watching bad tv. did i mention my husband is seeing spiderman right now??? to be fair..i did say it was okay. (i’m a VERY good wife. just for the record)
no..i need shoe help. i wish i could afford to buy 6 pairs of shoes for the summer. a new pair of pumas – something more neutral-y, mine are pink and black. or possibly a new pair of adidas…since my sister said that New Yorkers are so over the Puma phase and now everyone wears adidas. something cute and espradrille-y. new brown sandals. new black sandals. a pair of those sketcher-y type shoes everyone has that are casual-ish but can be worn with skirts and no socks.
but alas. i am an editor. and if you haven’t heard…editors fall in the pizza delivery girl salary bracket. also, i have a husband who does not understand shoes. he’s a man. men don’t get these things. Isabella…she gets it. Emily definitely gets it.
so…i can swing one. possibly two. so…what would you go for? if you could only buy one pair of shoes for this summer…what would you choose?
so…i was just thinking about these. but i’m certainly open to new ideas.
help! please!

3. maybe. 6. maybe.
not a huge fan of any of them.
multi-tasking mommy says
I would definitely buy #4 if I could only buy one. Comfy, but can be worn with just about anything!
I so want a pair!!!
Hmmm….I’ll just blame it on you–Sci-Fi Dad won’t know what to say!

Hi Ali – I would do #1 and #6 — LOL, I remember the early 90’s aka 90210 and I had those wedg-y type Brenda Walsh shoes and now they’re bacccccckkk. I have a pair like #6 – I bought them at Nine West last year, love’em.
Heather says
I love 3. I own 4, but better ! Check out Merril. They have the bonus of being the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn !
Haley-O says
I like 1, 2, and 4. I WISH I had the feet for ANY of these!!!!!!!
Jen says
I just bought a pair like #5 and LOVE them! They have a little heel so can go with skirts but also look cute with pants and even jeans. But, for you Ali, I would choose #6. If I could wear heels I would choose #6. Katie of The Style File has a light coloured pair like #6 and they look SO cute. She wears them with jeans or pants or…well, pretty much anything and they look great!
Let us know what you choose!
Btw, I can’t stand that fake ugly thing. Whatever. Look what they did to make ugly Betty ugly…that’s more like it.
Susan says
Oh…#6!!! Sexy. Cute. Fabulous. I think these would be hot w/ prety much anything.. shorts, skirts, sundress, jeans, you name it. If you buy them, jealousy might just set in ’til I get me some.
Jay says
Personally, I just bought my 2 pairs of shoes. 🙂 But, I would have to go with 3 or 5. Maybe even 6. But that’s just me. Good luck!
Now, can you help me with a purse?
metro mama says
I’d pick either 4 and 5 or 4 and 6. I’m a sensible gal, and they’re both versatile and comfy looking.
I love Pumas, but I’m not big on the ones pictured.
Sarah says
I’d vote 4 for sure, and then either 3 or 5 for more dressy – picking black or white depending what you wear more. They are all really nice shoe choices though Ali.
ffbgirl says
I vote for pair no. 4. You could dress them way up or way down… They look comfy and versatile… Let us know which pair(s) you end up with!
Jodi says
Oh! All of them!!! But if I could only choose 2, I’d pick 3 and 4. But really, all of them…
Haley says
ooooh I’m liking the white ones, but honestly, anything white (well, almost anything) is good in my book. plus it’s just such a summer-y type color
Maria says
I would go with the sketcher black sandals or the last pair of black wedge sandals; 1st of all if only 1 pair, black matches everything, 2nd of all they both can be worn casual or with skirts, summer dresses.
Kymburlee says
Okay, this is weird. ‘Cause I just bought that exact same style of Sketchers a few weeks ago.
Love. Them. To. Death.
Super comfy, I could run in them…y’know, if I ever did anything sporty like that. They breathe nicely, you can wear ’em with socks or without, and they go well with just about anything.
Giggling over the glasses tangent. My hubby is an eye doc and his sales gal has a fit over that sort of thing. She’s got an amazing eye (ha ha) for what glasses suit what faces. Glasses only make you uglier if they’re the -wrong- glasses for you, is her motto. Too funny.
