Tidying up the closet… it’s what I’m all about these days.
Here’s a sad case:
I bought these men’s style brogues from that place that rhymes with sinners sometime last year. They’re Steve Maddens, and they’re kind I usually LOVE: a brogue – trim, tailored pant suits, ties and such, make for great play for me… but for some reason, this colour wasn’t working for me. (Maybe they’re not dark enough?)
Sounds weird, since I just bought a pair yesterday in almost the identical shade, but they’re an entirely different kind of shoe, with a totally different application for dress.
I would have worn them had they been two-toned, I think. Sure I’m hip (bien sur!) but not exactly hipster… nope, they’re not happening. I tried to wear them several times – I rolled up my baggier jeans, donned argyle socks (even NO socks!) and took them off at the last minute, opting for something else every time. That’s never a good sign. So.
I might let them hang around for a little while longer, but I have a feeling I’ll be saying see you later, Steves… that was $40 not well spent, but *shrugs* its just like that sometimes. (And it’s hardly a fortune to lose, right?)
But… balls. I kinda hate it when that happens.

Undeniably consider that which you said. Your favourite reason appeared to be on the internet the easiest factor to bear in mind of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed while people consider worries that they plainly do not understand about. You controlled to hit the nail upon the highest and outlined out the whole thing with no need side-effects , folks can take a signal. Will probably be again to get more. Thank you

I swear, if I cant make these work for me, Ill get them to you, Aileen – pinky promise!!

Maybe I need a wide-leg pant to work these? I think Im not much of a bright tights kind of girl – I like the aesthetic, but I cant seem to wear it without feeling odd. I dont have any khakis or pants in a lighter tone (other than those white skinnies) but maybe I should actively try again this fall. Ive never even worn them out of the house – the price tag is still graces the sole of one shoe. #klassy
Okay, they stay!! For now.

Ladies. I had all those ideas for myself and now she is not going to send them to me like I asked her to… Wah.

I kind of love them, too – they’d work with lighter coloured things, no? Khakis, or white jeans, I think I’ve seen you wear here? Even a stone-washed jean rather than a dark wash, if you have such a thing. Maybe lighter grey pants? and I agree with Sonya about bright tights and sturdier clothing for fall – the colour is very fall. Maybe resolve to give them another fall season and see if you don’t make them work in summer or fall? Sometimes a deadline helps you either feel like you’ve made a decision or figure out how to give them a chance.
Tracey says
Hmmm… well, maybe I should hold onto them for just a leedle while longer then…
Sonya says
Keep em!!!!! I would totally wear them with opaque tights and a wooly mini in the fall and a big chunky sweater! Sorry ladies. I love them!!
Tracey says
Yeah, I wouldnt be wearing them with a skirt – only jeans – but theyre not working for me yet… I think theyre gonzo. :{

i dont get this style with the skirts going on. i dont find it at all attractive but then again, i have outed my flipper feet so they would just make me look like a scuba diver!
