McDonald’s Moms

October 13, 2009 by corinnepayne

Often people ask me - Corinne.JPG

In May 2008, I received an e-mail about an interesting new program with McDonald’s. I actually left the e-mail in my junk mail for several days. I have worked in the service industry most of my life, anything from making pizzas to pay for school books to being a VP of Merchandising for a national retailer, so I figured I could be a good quality correspondent (and I am not shy to do a little volunteer work). I did finally complete the information requested and sent it off before the deadline.

Summer 2008… What an awful summer… rain and more rain! Not much good news! My first day back to work (because I am an ESL teacher) was August 25 and that was the same day I got the exciting e-mail from McDonald’s… I had made it to the final round in the selection process. Maybe Fall 2008 would be better than the summer?! After several telephone interviews, mid-September I got the call, I was an official McDonald’s Mom, and was leaving for our first trip October 14… McDonald’s here I come!!!!

In the days leading up to the first trip I was very excited and at the same time a little nervous. What would we really see? Was this just a publicity stunt? Why was I selected? What will all the other moms be like? How do they make the Big Mac the same, no matter where I go? What can I add? What can I share with all the other moms? And, then I realized I am representing all the moms in the whole province of Quebec… this is serious. But my mom gave me the best advice… be yourself!!! And, so I packed my suitcase, kissed the kids goodbye, and headed to Toronto to meet a bunch of people I did not know and had never met.

You can get the full report details, photos and videos of each of my visits at, www.mcdonaldsmoms.ca!
