And we’re OFF! My sister and I are road tripping this weekend to the Windy City – Chicago. Before you start sending me suggestions for awesome restaurants and things to see – we’re there for a platform tennis tournament. It’s the U.S. Nationals…and we are the lone Canadian women’s team out of 98 teams!
My sister left this morning on a jet plane (cue the Carpenters) and I’m hitting the road tomorrow for the ten hour jaunt to meet her there. I’m stocked up with my GPS, three David Sedaris audiobooks AND the library just called to tell my my Chelsea Handler one is in too! I also have my Les Miz soundtrack and my iPod stocked with a crap load of new music on it. I’m slightly pumped.
It will be a great weekend for us though. We’ve travelled to a few tourneys this year but each time once of us had a kid with us. This time – it’s just us! We will play, hit Target and drink many vodka wedges….(try it kids – vodka, oj and some delish Fresca!).

I get the solo behind the wheel thing. Reminds us that we are invincible. Except I frequently get lost and have a tantrum.
And you are involved in a elite- practically olympic level – sporting tournament. The boys will be all over you.
Will has a team this weekend! My friend Tanya and her family tomorrow night….then he’s going home from daycare with one of his buddies….and my regular awesome sitter is taking him for the rest of the weekend. It’s really amazing how I don’t really give it a second thought once it’s organized. Everyone – including Will – is so incredible!
Okay I know you explained it and all – but everytime I hear “platform tennis”, I think of tennis being played in platform orthopedic shoes.

Love Chicago and love road trips. My two sisters are climbing in a van on Friday and driving down to South Carolina to meet up with my parents. I’m sad I’m not in on that road trip, but will be traveling vicariously through their stories and yours!
I am driving solo Jen! I loooooove long alone drives. Not sure why but it’s my favourite. And thanks Tracey on the toque…my friend knit it for me so it’s doubly awesome!!
