In our opinion: Whatever your personal feelings about the war on terror, the conflict in Afghanistan, and Canada’s role in it, you cannot fail to be moved by the images of of young men returning home in caskets. These men are our brothers, fathers and sons, and it’s a deep personal tragedy to the families involved.

In our opinion: a trillion dollars is a lot of money! While we’re pleased to see that legislators aren’t ignoring the global financial crisis, we wonder if any of this relief money will manage to trickle its way down to the families who are losing homes and jobs. Seems like the problems in Wall Street run deep and perhaps some serious reform needs to accompany the large rescue plans.

Lance Armstrong’s broken collarbone puts comeback plans on hold (CNN)
In our opinion: While we think that attempting to win an eighth Tour de France is a bit much, Armstrong’s return from retirement is geared not so much at racking up the yellow jerseys as it is at raising awareness for cancer research on the global stage. And anything that fights cancer is tops in our books. Here’s hoping Lance recovers quickly enough to hit the cobblestones in Paris this summer.
