Yup. It’s that time again. The dreaded New Year’s Resolutions are looming on the horizon. I have learned over time that setting hard and fast resolutions never work, at least not for me. However, I do take the start of a new year seriously. I see it as an opportunity to reflect back on all of the changes that have taken place in the previous year. And for me, there have been many!
Not only has urbanmoms.ca become a full-time job for me and a part-time job for others but we have met and interacted with some amazing Canadian moms. This “job” has given me such a huge opportunity to meet and get to know (both virtually and live) people I would otherwise never have met. To be honest with you, this has been the greatest gift of the last year. This online community has offered friendship, camaraderie, and connection in a way I had rarely experienced before. I am constantly in awe of you amazing urban moms and thanks to so many of you for taking the time to send emails contributing stories, ideas, and very welcome praise!
I look back 10 years ago and think about the resolutions I made then and I can’t even believe I am the same person! Life is a whirlwind and change is inevitable but knowing that I am not in this alone and can count on all of you to help see me through it makes the tough times easier and the great times even better!
So, thanks to all of you for making 2006 a wonderful year. 2007 is going to bring even more to this community. I look forward to sharing it with you!

You just reminded me that maybe I should make some New Year’s Resolutions. I mean, I’m always making resolutions, i.e., today’s my last Starbucks CHAI TEA LATTE evah (I make that resolution every day…ahem)! But, New Years is the perfect time to make such resolutions. But, I’m not making that resolution. I resolve to drink chais whenever — like, once a day — but no more of those darn Starbucks PASTRIES. ‘cept on weekends…. There. done. Resolved. As of Jan. 1st. Happy New Year!!
