Nailing It (Yay, Puns!)

March 24, 2011 by Metalia

I’m an unrepentant nailbiter; it’s one of my few vices. Gross? Probably, but relatively harmless, as far as addictions go. For years, I held back from manicures, thinking it was a thing that only people with pretty, unbitten nails did. On those rare occasions that I did paint them, I selected the palest, barest of whisper pinks.

Well, no more! In the past year, I decided to just embrace the short, raggedy-ass nails, and get them polished with the colors I REALLY wanted, and had been longingly ogling for years.

My favorite, thus far, is OPI’s Lincoln Park After Dark. It’s a dark, dark purply black that looks shockingly great on short nails, and surprisingly (pardon yet another pun) polished when done right.

What’s your go-to nail polish shade?

This website is very captivating. I am delightful I found it because I learned new facts as I read it. Keep posting.

LOVE the colour – for my toes. Like Tracey, I’m hard on hands, and even if my cuticles weren’t all ragged and dry (mm, pretty), my nails get destroyed in a day ay best. My toes, though, will wear all kinds of colours.

I can’t do colour on my fingernails either – I’m really hard on my hands, and when I wear colour, the tips just get worn away within about 24 hours. ACK! So, I go for buff, which is way more forgiving and longer lasting (unless you look reeeally closely…) I always wear colour on my toes though – and they’re ALWAYS polished – and I’d been meaning to try the Lincoln Park one… that might be my nest drugstore “splurge” purchase!! (And It’s always OPI or Essie.)

I have 3 OPI colours that I go between.
Black Cherry Chutney is a dark purple, marron-ish with a bit of shimmer to it.
Suzi Says Da – it’s a dark chocolate colour that has solid finish – no shimmer.
And the one I get the most compliments on – I wear it mostly on my toes is Yoga-ta Get This Blue. It’s almost navy blue with a shimmer finish to it.
Will definitely look for the Lincoln Park After Dark for my short nails!

I’m a linkin park after dark toe girl and have been for awhile – I leave it and always come back…I just haven’t been able to get colour on my hands though….someday!

I’m a nail biter too and I swear by OPI’s Nail Envy clear coat when I’m trying to kick the habit. It’s nice and strong and shiny!
