I’m a bit of a Fashion Week junkie. I’ve been fortunate to attend some shows over the years and (HIGHLIGHT OF LIIIIIIIFE) interview Tim Gunn during Fall Fashion Week a few years back. I love the pageantry of the entire event, but there are a few designers whose collections I await above all others. My very favorite, though, is Phillip Lim.
I’ve written earlier here about my fashion muses, but I suppose I have a style/designer muse, as well. He is my signature designer by which I mean, “I own a few of his pieces, but if I won the lottery, would swath myself in everything he makes, ever.” Although I have not yet hit the Powerball numbers, I still take inspiration and cues from his designs; I love the way he drapes fabrics, and how his stuff is classic and wearable, but with little twists and drapes that keep it from ever being mundane. I’ve yet to see a collection of his where I haven’t wanted to leap across the runway and abscond with the models’ clothes. Like these dresses, for instance.
His newest collection was no exception, with a — yes — wearable palate of browns, greys, and blues, cute skirts, and gorgeously layered looks. (COME ON, LOTTERY.)
Who’s your favorite designer?
Phillip Lim is the Man!!! His pieces are so simple and timeless but still move with the times. I love his leather bags (although I couldn’t afford any of them) I still love ’em!
