I wanted to write this to let other moms know about my first 8 weeks. To start, my pregnancy and labour/delivery were amazing (sorry but it’s true), if I could guarentee every baby to be like Chiara, I would have 50 kids.
Chiara is my first, and I’m only the second of my friends to start a family, so naturally I took every piece of advice I could find. All the tidbits of info and pointers I got were all about how to deal with the pain and stress. They all said that my life would be turned upside down, I won’t be able to shower or eat or get any sleep. I was petrified. I had myself so scared, that the minute my labour started I was scared to tell my husband it was actually happening. It was 2:30am and 22 hours later, my daughter was born on September 21st 12:25am.
It has been the biggest blessing in my life having Chiara. I have always wanted to be a mom, and now for the first time I feel like I’m doing what I was meant to do. It has also been very, very easy. I know, you think I’m crazy. Nobody believes me when I tell them. She was born on a
Wednesday and on Sunday we were in Toronto at a family function. We live 1 hour west of Toronto. I just want all those new and expectant moms to know, you can do it.
You will have days when you think you can’t, especially if your child isn’t an angel or is colicky. But always look ahead and give yourself the credit you deserve. And know from the very start, that men don’t always change. My biggest worry in all of this was my husband. His mom said he would change and grow up into parenthood. Don’t count on it! Once I accepted that, our lives have been amazing. You can do it!
I hope this helps even just one mom know that she can do this and in all the negative stories you hear this is one that said " it was a breeze, I’m gonna have 50 kids"!
