This week last year was the nine days that was the final leg of my journey to bring Roman home.
I would like to share with you my entries from a few of the most significant events.
The first one is my day in Court. This is the day that you appear before a judge and present your petition to adopt. In my case as a single parent it was just me and my translator that spoke English so the proceedings were all in Russian with my translator trying to keep up with telling me what was happening and what was being said. It was an incredibly intimidating but powerful and beautiful experience.
Looking back one year later, I am still in awe of the process and what transpired in that room. I am humbled, grateful and relieved that I am now home with my son, safety tucked into his bed and court is part of our life story but almost a faint memory with so many new memories we have created living the next chapter at home.
