The music was pumping, the cameras were flashing, gorgeous women were walking the virtual red carpet – big Hollywood event? No, even better – it was the HBC fashion show at the urbanmoms’ Mom’s Night out event. Our volunteer mom models were stunning, and showed off 15 different outfits, enhanced with accessories from The Bay, Zellers and Timex with professionalism and panache. Here’s a review of some of them, and some ideas and tips on the versatility of the various pieces.
First, here’s Sarah wearing a clocolate brown, maternity halter dress from Olian available at The Bay. We jazzed up this versatile number with The Bay’s glamourous gold accessories (a great choice for anyone to add to neutrals for an evening out) and a beautiful chiffon wrap for the event. But, this dress is also great for keeping cool and comfortable on hot Summer days, worn with flats and sandals.
We’ve often referred to the popularity of black and white this season, and this Jackie ‘O- inspired look from the Mac and Jac collection at The Bay, looked fantastic on Bridget. The swing jacket is a surprisingly useful piece, and can be worn over a great pair of black pants (as shown here), black or white skirts and tops or more casually with jeans. The pants we featured are also from Mac and Jac, they have a slim leg and will be a perfect basic for so many different looks from casual to business to dressy. Always buy great basics like these first and then build on them with fabulous tops and accessories. Btw – the bag is a patent tote and very useful for transporting no-end of mom gear.
For a more casual, yet no less stylish look, Barb wore a pretty pink paisly shirt from The Bay’s Style and Co Collection, along with a great pair of off-white Request jeans from Zellers. The shirt would also work well with wide or narrow linen or cotton pants for work or formal occasions, as well as blue jeans and summery skirts. Barb’s accessories including silver jewellry and a useful straw bag, are also from Zellers.
Ali more than did the little black dress justice with this Mac and Jac jersey shirt dress from The Bay. This piece offers no end of verstaility and comfort. It’s perfect for the office or a night out, and is one of those items that will always be there on those "don’t know what to wear days." A little, black patent clutch and a jet bracelet from Zellers, along with a metallic hair band, completed this look.
We went into the trenches with our next two models. Mary-Beth wore a cute, Zellers cream trench with a fine pink and red check, over a great pair of Lee jeans (Lee has some fabulous new fits) and a cotton floral top from Point Zero (Lee and Point Zero are available at The Bay.) The trench will go from office to school yard and the little top is perfect for hot Summer days or under casual or even career jackets.
Liz dressed up a great pair of dark Point Zero jeans with a beige trench (note all the top-stitching) and a beautifu, mocha, peach and beige chiffon "goddess" top, both from the Bandolino collection at The Bay.
Want to know what urbanmoms.ca Founder Jen was wearing? Well, here she is in a fabulous, graphic patterned tunic top (a little funky 70s retro styling) from the INC collection at The Bay, and the perfect Mac and Jac pants, but this time in white. The tunic top also looks great with jeans or leggings and those white pants will be a mainstay of Jen’s summer wardrobe. The circle necklace is from Zellers.
Last but not least, our final model of the evening was Kath from the weight loss blog, Losing It. Kath has reached her weight-loss goals and boy, did she look fantastic in a zebra print trench from INC and a fitted, little black dress from Zellers. Here she is. Ta da!
By the way, all the outfits were enhanced by terrific new timepieces from Timex. Here’s a close-up of some of them. The first two watches are from Timex’s new Mary Jane collection and feature the useful Indiglo nightlight. The smaller bracelet watches are stainless steel and the crystals in the rectangular design are from Swarovski.
Hope this has provided some ideas for your Spring and Summer shopping. Next time, we’ll feature even more great outfits from the Mom’s Night Out fashion show.

I loved the fashion show and all the real and beautiful models. I’ve already been down to The Bay and picked up the little black dress that Ali wore; I’m planning to wear it to both a work reception and the Phantom of the Opera later this month…may need some shoe advice to make it either more business or more dressy!
