ME VS MACHINE

December 15, 2009 by Jessica_Mommed

It’s a pretty safe bet that if it’s plugged in, I am going to break it at some point. In the past year, I have broken our printer (actually, I broke TWO), a microwave, and our oven. Those aren’t the only things, those are just the ones I am willing to share.

And now, I’m pretty sure I have broken our washing machine. The dryer seems to be in good working order…which kind of irks me, because if it was the dryer, I could just wash the clothing and lay them out to dry to hang them up outside. But, not being able to wash the clothing (and you don’t have to be a mathematician to realize how much laundry is happening in a 4-person-household).

So, now I have, um, an embarrassing amount of laundry piling up.

Now, I need your advice…soon…so I can stop buying new underpants for my husband.

Should I:

a) send it out? My sister said that there are great – and relatively inexpensive – services that will wash and fold and deliver your clean laundry. Wow. This would be a great solution and kind of something I could get used to (or maybe TOO used to)

b) visit the laundromat? Laundromats still exist, yes? They aren’t just meeting places in movies, right?

Advice?

Yes, Laundromats do exist. We have one at the end of our street. But I would try exploring a third option – ask a friend. Ask a good friend if you can use their machine while yours is being repaired. When my machine died I asked several friends to help out. Fortunately it didn’t take long for our machine to be repaired, and my friends were happy to help out.
