McDonald’s Secrets Revealed

July 5, 2010 by NaomiTanakaJesson

The most common statement I hear from other moms and individuals when they find out I am a McDonald’s Moms’ Quality Correspondent is: Tell me a secret about McDonald’s.

Everybody wants to know a secret about McDonald’s. Unfortunately, I have nothing that is worthy of the Top Secret stamp but I have uncovered a few little known tidbits about McD’s.

1. There are still restaurants/franchisees that offer the “penny cone”. That’s right: donate a penny to RMHC and your child will get a mini ice cream cone. It is actually the perfect size for our little Miss Easty.

2. You can get free refills on your drink when you are dining in.

3. If you have Happy Meal toys that are repeats or left with less popular choices, keep the toy in the wrapping and then they will exchange it when the new ones come in.

4. You can get your sandwich made anyway you want it. I have even had the nerve to order a B.L.T. Bagel minus the tomato, add some cheese, and have them put it on an English muffin instead of a bagel.

Crazy, yes, I know, but I did it all in the name of research. Heh.

I will keep you posted on more little known tidbits as I uncover them.

Hahah the penny cone, it’s totally cool ain’t it? I worked for McDonald’s for over six years, different locations throughout the lower mainland. In one restaurant in a not so nice neighborhood they had a needle box in the bathroom (ahem downtown on Granville) years ago. It was cool because they could not constantly monitor who went in or out of the bathroom but they took efforts to keep needles off their floors with kids and parents around. Thumbs up!

Wow, these are some great tips! I didn’t know about the free refills, or Happy Meal toys. Thanks!
