….Show a little faith, there’s magic in the night
You ain’t a beauty, but hey you’re alright
Oh and that’s alright with me
Recognize these lyrics???
maybe a little later in the song?
Heaven’s waiting on down the tracks
Oh oh come take my hand
Riding out tonight to case the promised land
Oh oh Thunder Road, oh Thunder Road
oh Thunder Road
Yessssssssss!!!! Baby!!!!! They come from Thunder Road, penned and sung by the man so rightly nicknamed the Boss, Bruce Springsteen!
Mr. Husband has an awful lot of quirks and idiosyncracies that can make life a bit challenging, but his most makes them passion for live music almost makes them all seem insignificant. Because he is very generous with his concert addiction, and for Christmas, gave me tickets to see Bruce…last night…at Copps Colisuem in Hamilton. Here is is with Little Stevie (I can never erase the Soprano memories when I see him.) BTW – These photos are from http://www.rollingstone.com/photos/gallery/5399853/bruce_springsteen_photos/photo/62/large/brucespringsteen
I have seen my friend Bruce several times, but never all night from behind (we had rear stage tickets and I got to stare at his oooohhhh sooooo gorgeous ass all night) and this was easily the best show ever.
Here is a You Tube link to the very old Dancing in the Dark video in case you have never had the opportunity to witness such beauty. He may be twenty years older, but his butt looks better than ever and he played this same song with more energy and intensity than even Courtney Cox in a white t-shirt could muster.
Bruce tends to stay pretty true to the album he is promoting when he is on tour, but last night we got, The Rising, Thunder Road, Born ro Run, The River, Dancing in the Dark and Darkness on the Edge of Town, …you can see the set list for yourselves.
There was also a nice shout out by Bruce to Ontario girls when he dedicated Girls in Their Summer Clothes to all of us.
I may be 42 and a mother of a pre-schooler and a step-mother of three teens and a high school English teacher and a Catholic church goer who gave up chocolate for lent, but when Bruce looks me in the eye and says
Baby this town rips the bones from your back
It’s a death trap, it’s a suicide rap
We gotta get out while we’re young
‘Cause tramps like us, baby we were born to run
I’m screaming ‘tramps like us’ at the top of my lungs and beaming with the knowledge that for a few brief seconds, the Boss and I are one.
ah Bruce... says
He gives good concert! Many many years ago, my cousin Cathy ( who you know well) called me while I was still wallowing in a rather significant breakup and announced we were going to see The Boss. She being one of the CAs for the ticketing agency we had awesome seats. Upon arrival I would not have called myself a fan. Upon leaving, I was. And he sweated on me. That says it all….
Why can’t all men wear jeans so well?

My two sisters and I are huge tramps (that’s Bruce fans…get your minds out of the gutter) and the last two concerts we’ve managed to get into the pit (a special section right in front of the stage where seating is determined by lottery). In the Fall at ACC, we were in the second row. I touched his thigh (be still my heart) and my sister STRUMMED HIS GUITAR!!!!! The experience was almost out of body it was so incredible. Only another fan would understand how magical a Bruce concert is, and the memories of sharing concerts (dating back to 1985) with my sisters are so special.

Hello tramp!! I saw him a few years ago and I too was amazed at that butt!! He also balanced his whole body upside down on the microphone stand!! Wow, he must have abs to match….

I was there too … as the date, rather than the fan. But I left a fan (and we didn’t have the rear view seats you did)! He rocked the joint and I was thrilled to be a part of it!! I thought the encore would be over after Born to Run. Was I wrong, or was I wrong????
