May 5th is McHappy Day! Do you know what the day is all about?
I never really took note of it until last year when I was asked to “work” at McDonald’s that day. Since I was SO experienced from my past Edmonton trip, I chose to work the drive-thru as I remembered how poorly I coped with the fries and all the buzzers. Anyway, I volunteered along with several other local celebrities (hee hee-“celebrity”). I worked with Winnipeg’s Mayor, Sam Katz, and nick-named him Mayor McCheese, which many appreciated. Unfortunately, not too many people had a clue who I was.
What a great event! $1.00 from every Egg McMuffin, Big Mac and Happy Meal goes to Ronald McDonald House Charities and other local children’s charities on this day. So all of you moms who want a day free of cooking should treat yourself or even join our volunteer crew!
We always hope for a huge turnout! I, a Clinical Resource Nurse of a sick newborn unit who cares for our smallest patients in Winnipeg’s Children’s Hospital Program, have seen the money go to great use. Many families we work with have stayed and expressed how wonderful and needed the RMH is, and I encourage you all to support McHappy Day in any way you can.
Keep sending your questions!!

Unfortunately, I will miss McHappy day as I am travelling back! Boo Hoo! I missed it last year as well. Our McDonald’s also supports our hospital. Last year it was for our new emergency centre, must needed in our growing city.
Remember Kath- You do hold the FRY QUEEN title!
